With three of our best players unavailable, we started the final against Edinburgh as second favourites. The first two games to finish were a win and a loss, but we were doing well in the remaining games. In the end we secured three excellent wins (by Andrew Greet, Colin McNab, and Larry Kirk) and four draws, so the final score was a convincing 5-3 win.
Match details: 1 A Greet 1-0 C Sreeves; 2 J Shaw 0.5 N Berry; 3 C McNab 1-0 C Macqueen; 4 I Swan 0.5 P Valden; 5 L Kirk 1-0 A Green; 6 D Watt 0.5 G Kafka; 7 N Reid 0.5 A White; 8 J Larkin 0-1 H Brechin.
We won the Richardson Cup nine times in the period 1999-2011, consistently performing above ourselves, but achieved no success in the last five years. Perhaps this victory prefigures a return to our glory days?
