Online Chess Update 2

LIVE ONLINE GAMES

I have decided that the most flexible platform to play online chess is chess.com. However, if there is a demand, then I can set up Rapid tournaments on lichess.org.

I propose that every Thursday at 7.30pm we play a LIVE 90 minute game against another member of the online "Glasgow Polytechnic" chess club.

First you would have to become a member of chess.com. A free bronze membership should be sufficient - I hope.

Next you send me a note of your chess.com handle. For example my handle on chess.com is tempo321.

I will send all of those that want to participate a note of everyone else's handle in our club.

You then have to INVITE all these people as FRIENDS.

This allows you to send a challenge to one of your friends. You can also customize the type of challenge. I suggest a 90 minute LIVE game.

What I suggest is that I will pair people, and email people before Thursday, whom they should be playing. If you are unable to play on Thursday at 7.30, then you should be able to arrange via chess.com another suitable day and time.

After the game, let me know the result, and I will post the results in the blog.

As we have the time, at the moment, I could arrange that every week you play a different member of the "Glasgow Polytechnic". This is not going to be a SWISS tournament, but hopefully as we have time, everybody will get a chance to play every other member of the online "Glasgow Polytechnic" chess.com club.

If interested, then let me know your exisitng handle (if you have not done so), when you sign up.

We can try this at first, and then see about playing other clubs. Probably using the same system, of setting up as friends.

Let me know your thoughts on trying this out.
