Iain Swan, FIDE master, presented a masterclass on November 8th. He played through two exciting games, one between Levon Aronian and Vladimir Kramnik and the second between Bai Jinshi v Ding Liren.
Both games went from the players seeming equally positioned to very quickly White fighting (unsuccessfully) to survive with the white queen powerless to help and the white king being chased around.
There were many learning opportunities provided as Iain paused to ask for opinions and analyse alternative moves.
The audience was substantial, especially considering that there were various important football matches being broadcast live on the same evening.
Many thanks to Iain for the inspired choice of games to present, and for preparing his talk with pauses for audience participation and discussions at all the correct times.
