Unfortunately, the re-opening of Polytechnic Chess Club has again been put on hold. There has been no progress in any efforts by the Church to improve ventilation in the hall.

The council realises that many may feel it is up to themselves to assess risk in this scenario, and a survey of the membership was undertaken in a bid to ascertain just how many would be keen to go back as things stand. the response was surprisingly muted. Only four members expressed a wish to return with the current status..and one of these would not be happy to wear a mask as has been mandated by the Church rules. Only eight or so members expressed that they were NOT keen to return currently... leaving a large population who have not answered. I, for one was surprised as expected the whippersnappers to be snapping at our heels.

For the time being, therefore, a return is not planned. Covid concerns aside, financially speaking, the numbers could not justify it.

I do feel we should have some ongoing Poly gameplay, so will hopefully be assembling the second running of the Poly2020 online Club Championship. I plan to send all members an invitation to the tournament...once I crack how to work the emails without my PC.
