Decent turn-out for first serious chess of the season. 17 entrants for the club championship, including defending Champion, Danny Breslin. Worked nicely enough with one requested half-point bye, two requested delayed pairing, leaving 7 matches on the night, plus one full-point bye. Repeated changes in personnel did result in some odd pairings/colours. Results as follows.
No detailed account this time. Quick mentions that Craig's opponent Jim "chucked a piece" early, prompting Scott (after a mauling by Danny) to ask me in the car park why I don't get him opponents like that. "Your opponent asked first," I replied. My materialistic eye thought Bob was doing OK vs. Graeme, but powerful threats knew better. Mahmoud was ruthless against Alex, while Dan Slack confirmed he is a prospect with a fine win over Chris Yapp, whilst another newcomer Jim Gillespie was worn down by young Eric Martin. Robert and Matt ended last. With all the world watching (a new experience for Matt?, but not for Robert!), the latter won the evening.
