Happy Birthday Eric Martin!
The start of round 3 of the Club Championship was not as usual. We celebrated Eric Martin's forth-coming 90th birthday with a card, cake, and brief speeches. It was a happy event that was enjoyed by all.
But it was round 3 of the club championship. So Eric prepared to face his opponent.
Eric is a strong player and he defeated his opponent.
I wish that I could visualise a position as clearly as he does. After my first round game he quietly pointed out that I had missed a win during the end game. He was correct. I'm sure we all wish that we had some of his chess insight.
