Richardson Cup: Semi-Final

Poly vs Phones

Our semi-final match was against Phones, who had deteated Edinburgh and Wandering Dragons in earlier rounds. Our team was missing no fewer than five of our best players, but still we were stronger on paper. The board 1 game between Pavlos Bozinakis (white) and Iain Swan started 1 f4 d5 2 g3 h5!? and already Iain had the initiative. Iain successfully navigated the mind-boggling complications that ensued, emerging with a won ending. Further wins by Helge Magnussen and Neil Reid helped to secure a 5-3 victory.
